The ice covered the trees and powerlines so much that they tended to just break.

Close up view of the crumpled power lines. This is damage from an ice storm. 

Crumpled

These are those huge cross country power lines. On our way back to Kansas City, we saw about 2 miles of them crumpled one direction and then another 2 miles crumpled the other direction.
